On Father’s Day, it was a boy’s day for Daryl and Blake. They first went to practice their swing at the driving range, then continued onto a railroad museum and took a train ride.

Happy Father’s Day Daryl, you are such a wonderful daddy who works so hard for all of us. We love you very much!

Safari via Callaway Gardens

Our last trip from Birmingham was to Callaway Gardens in Georgia this past weekend, where Daryl had a meeting. Wish we had had more time to explore the grounds, I think if the little ones were older, we could have gotten more out of it. So on the last day, we treated them to an animal safari just a few minutes down the road.

Zebras, cows, bulls, ostrich, horses, ponys, woolly mammoths, giraffes, deer and so much more were literally hanging in our car drooling and slobbering all over us. Blake just couldn't get enough, he ran out of food almost right away because he was so excited to feed the animals. Addie was a little restrained at first, but then she opened up and had lots to say to the animals!

Baseball Days of Summer

America's oldest ballpark, Rickwood Field, is located right here in good ole Birmingham! Who knew?!?! Every year there is a classic ball game played by the local minor league team (Birmingham Barons) here and as a dedicated family of a sports fan, we all of course attended. It was blazing hot, but nonetheless, it was fun to see an old ballpark and imagined what it was like during it's glory days.

Not actually at Rickwood Field, but just another Barons game, where Daddy was the team physician for the night. The boys out on the field together. Daddy loves his budding sports fan!

Space Center

We visited the US Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville a couple of weeks ago. It sure looked amazing from the outside, with so many old rockets all over the place, but all in all, it was pretty antiquated. I think the fact that it was 200 degrees outside probably didn't help! All in all though, the little ones had fun in the kid play area and we learned a little more history.

This was just so sweet, Mommy and Blake holding hands, while little Addie tried to keep up after being told several times it was time to go-little miss independent!

The cutest part was watching Blake on the ride, he loved it, but...Addie not so much! She looks so precious with her chubby little legs barely dangling about!

 

How NOT to Pack

Just a quick glimpse into my world as we traveled to Boston for Auntie's baby shower (for only 4 days). What a fabulous weekend it was and a perfect baby shower! Auntie's belly is just adorable and we are so excited to meet little baby Bruneau in July.

A Day on The Course

Daryl and Blake had a fun boys day by attending a senior PGA Championship Tour here in town. Blake is a little Osbahr in the making, so it's no surprise that he came home with pictures of several famous golfers as well as three autographed golf balls from Tom Watson, Mark Calcavecchia, and David Frost.

Talladega NIghts

On Mother's Day, there was a fundraiser to benefit the tornado victims at Talladega Super Speedway. For a small donation, we were able to drive our own car around the track...at 100+ mph!!! It was an amazing thrill. In retrospect, I don't think we should have taken the kids with us nor driven an SUV. But, we made it out alive, had an amazing experience and gave to a good cause.

Race for Amanda

It has been just over two years since my best friend, Amanda, lost her very short battle to ovarian cancer. It was just heart breaking watching her slip away so quickly. She fought so hard and was SOOOOOO positive the whole time. This type of cancer is so dangerous because it is silent and goes undetected so much. Please take the time to read about it for the sake of all the women in your lives who you love so much.

The weather couldn't have been more perfect today to celebrate the lives of all the women who have fought to beat this horrid disease. We all ran (and walked) in honor of them. But for me especially, Amanda, was on the forefront of my mind the whole time. I had a teal butterfly, ovarian cancer T-shirt on to represent Amanda who loved butterflies so much and the little ones each wore teal shirts for the cause.

Soccer in the Spring

Blake took to the field again this spring for another season of soccer. Watching the little kids run around and having almost no idea what they're doing but having fun anyway, is just priceless!

Georgia Aquarium

Their silhouettes are so sweet

We had a very unexpected trip to Atlanta to visit Grammie and Grampie last weekend. They were absolutely in shock when we pulled in the driveway but of course, welcomed us with open arms. We played lots of basketball and had yummy meals, and also visited the famous Georgia Aquarium-the largest in the world. It was fun, but don't think it was worth practically having to donate a kidney for the price of admission! Nonetheless, we saw lots of pretty fish, the kids had fun and we can check it off our list!
