Family of Four Christmas

And just like that, we are now a family of four! We celebrated our first Christmas with Adelyn yesterday. Even though she slept through all of the festivities, we sure enjoyed having her there. Blake had so much fun opening all of his gifts from Santa, plus putting the cookies and milk out the night before for Santa.

It's A Girl!!!

Little Miss Adelyn "Addie" Grace popped out right on schedule, December 3 at 1:14 pm. She weighed 7 pounds and was 20 inches long. She is so very precious and so tiny, we are very in love with her. Big brother Blake is also in love with her very much, he is constantly giving her kisses. We are one big happy family!

Today is the first day that mommy is completely on her own...so far so good!

Happy 2nd Birthday!

How did our little man turn 2 so quickly? Where did the time go? He is such a little angel. We celebrated with friends in our building, went to the Macy's Parade Balloon Inflation, then had dinner with Mommy and Daddy and ice cream!

Loving opening presents!

Sports Mania Weekend

Blake got a glimpse of what his future has in store for him...two major sporting events in one weekend with Daddy! They were both in their glory.

On the train on the way to the NY Giants vs. Atlanta Falcons football game.

Daddy and Blake at the NY Giants game. Blake's second NFL game already. Even though the Redskins weren't playing, Blake was shouting "Go Redskins" the whole time!

Daddy and his little Tarheel. Blake shouted "Go Tarheels" over and over again, so cute!

Our future Tarheel, Daddy was in heaven. The UNC vs. Syracuse basketball game at Madison Square Garden.

Fall in the Park

One thing we will miss about the city is the beautiful changing of the leaves. That is hands down one of the Northeast's claim to fame and with good reason. The only thing that could make it better is throwing some adorable kids into the mix of colorful leaves.

Kitties Out, Baby Claptrap In

Sad to report, but our giant "little men" have left us. The kitties have flown down to live with Grammie for a while, in preparation for our new arrival. In our NYC apartment, I just did not see how it was possible to fit all of us in here and be comfortable. So the temporary fix is a temporary stay in Atlanta for the boys until we move to Alabama.

Ironically, Daryl flew out on a plane the night before the cats flew out. So since telling Blake that both Daddy and the kitties went on an airplane, he thinks they are all together up in an airplane (even still, 2 days later) and looks up in the sky, sees a bird or an airplane and says "hi" to the kitties and daddy. Very cute! Until Daddy comes home, Blake will continue to think he is on an airplane the whole time.

So after the kitties vacated, the next task was to go fill the apartment back up with more stuff, wouldn't want to have any sense of space for too long! Blake and Mommy took a trip to Aunt Cheryl's in nearby Connecticut this morning and filled up a carload of "essential" baby paraphrenalia. A big thank you to Aunt Cheryl for being our nearby storage facility. It really is amazing, the smaller the little person is, the more stuff they seem to require! So we are now officially ready for baby to arrive (even though baby is NOT going to surprise Mommy and come early)! So less than 3 weeks to go...

Haircut...Finally

While mommy had a big dinner out with the ladies last night, daddy stayed home and gave Blake a muchly overdue haircut. He has decided that he doesn't need haircuts anymore. We have gone to two different salons and he has absolutely refused to have his hair cut at both. So Daryl pre-occupied him in the tub last night and chopped away. He looks like a different child, but still just as adorable. And this face, this is what he does when we ask him to smile for the camera!

A face only a mother could love.

Science Museum

This past weekend we took a field trip to a children's science center museum in New Jersey and Blake had so much fun "learning."

Playing "doctor" like daddy!

Enjoying the museum with his girlfriend Gabi. This was the slowest he ever moved, only when holding hands with Gabi, otherwise he was running around like a crazy man at all times. Amazing the effect women have on men!

I know I shouldn't be standing on this, but I am so cute, mommy won't mind!

Halloween Football Player

We were in Florida for Halloween and our little football player was the cutest ever! At the beginning of the night, he also wanted to wear his fireman hat with his football costume!
We went trick-or-treating at the mall with a million other kids and then to our friend's neighborhood. Blake loved getting candy and kept saying "next house" after leaving each house in the neighborhood in search of the next piece of candy. He then wanted each candy opened each time he received a new piece! Considering his dinner consisted mostly of candy and getting to bed late, he was an angel as usual and slept well.
Mommy and Daddy really benefited from the trick-or-treating as well!!! What a fun night.

In Florida via Atlanta, not France

We have been a little busy lately and time has slipped away. We cancelled/postponed our trip to France. We would have been there over a week by now, but due to family being ill, my pregnancy getting toward the end, plus the swine flu epidemic, we decided it was best to delay. We are very relieved to not be sitting in France, as we got the unexpected news that my wonderful Uncle Ruben passing last week. Since we were not overseas, Blake and I were able to attend his service. So in 5 days, we were on 5 different planes! And now we are down in Vero.

I want to send lots of love and support to Uncle Ruben's family. He was such an amazing man. His zest for life was beyond what anyone can imagine, even though he had cancer for over five years, he never let it get him down and never, ever stopped living, not even for a moment. I'll never forget all of the special memories we shared. And I will always cherish the special picture we had from so long ago when I was a little girl bouncing on his lap as well as the heartfelt speech he gave at my wedding. I love you Uncle Ruben! Shop Around

Blake has recently become very interested in riding the tricycles at the playground. Onto craigs list I went to look for a used bike, because they cost so much new. So with a little perseverance, we found a bike and our little man is in love with it! We circle the block almost daily, while mommy pushes and he pedals. Can't do it on his own yet, but still loves riding his bike!

Teach 'Em While They're Young

This is how we amuse ourselves sometimes. We go into the back alley behind the building and Blake likes to "seep," as he calls it.

Blake's First Sleepover (Partial)

One of Blake's favorite little friends, Gabi, came over for a sleepover tonight while her mommy and daddy went to dinner. Blake loved this idea! They ate dinner together, played, read books, took a crazy tubby and then went to sleep (separately of course). A little crying from both of them when they went to bed, but it was only because they were looking for each other.

First thing this morning Blake asked where Gabi was and then was concerned that her portable bed had been broken down. I would say he has quite the little crush!
Reading together

Sweetest Boy

The other day I stubbed my toe very badly on the bed and said "ouch" right away. Blake was standing there with me and looked so concerned as he kept saying "oh no mommy." I stood there waiting for the pain to go away for a few seconds and then he went down on the floor and kissed my toes to make them feel better. Instantly they were all better with his magical touch!

Then at lunch today I was unbuckling him from his highchair and there was a scratch on his thigh that I pointed out and asked what happened. Again, he said "oh no" and then he leaned down to kiss it himself (hard to reach though). I then asked him if it felt better and he shouted out "YES!"

Our Fun Day

The little man and I went to Central Park today and attended the Peter Pan marionette puppet show. I wasn't sure if he would sit still or not, it was an hour long, but he was thoroughly enthralled and stayed seated the whole time. Then we enjoyed the gorgeous weather by playing in the park afterward.

This afternoon we went to our weekly music/storytelling class. Each week, Blake gets more and more excited about singing "The Wheels on the Bus." His favorite part is when the horn goes "beep beep beep!"

And to top off the day, Daddy actually got home at a decent hour!

A Little Nervous

A friend of mine here in the building was pregnant and scheduled for a c-section on Oct. 16, but the baby had other plans and popped out this past weekend-2 weeks early. All I keep thinking is, what if this happens to me!?!? I am not prepared for that at all! I know it can happen at anytime, but I sure hope I have made just as cozy of a home in my belly as I did for Blake, therefore making it too difficult to want to leave early!

We have too much going on between now and then: leave for France in less than 2 weeks for an almost 3-week stay, get home and Daryl leaves for a long weekend, then a week later he leaves town again for a few days and then it is Blake's birthday and Thanksgiving. So do you see baby, Mommy would not be prepared!!!

But we can't wait to meet you on December 3rd, when we'll be all ready!!! :)

Trying to Catch Up

Wow, it has been a really long time since the last post. As you can see, I have yet again changed the layout, still working on a more exciting background though. Regardless, I am much happier with this one and will vow to try and keep up better this time!

Boy have we been busy the last few months. We have visited Grandma, Grandpa and Uncle Peter out in Oregon with Aunt Amanda, Mommy went to Colleen's wedding in Colorado and we celebrated Grammie's 60th birthday in Vero. We also attended the US Open-Tennis, went to a NY Mets game and visited a local farm.

Blake is becoming more and more amazing everyday. His vocabulary has just exploded over the past month or so. Granted, only Mommy can understand the majority of it, that doesn't make it any less adorable! He is repeating almost everything we say. He is especially concerned about how his friends, Gabi and Drew, are doing and asked about them probably 100 times a day or more. And now, we can practically have a conversation-a very simple one, but nonetheless, very special and often quite amusing.

So here is a quick glimpse of some of our favorite pictures over the last couple of months.

Riding on a 4-wheeler with Grandpa and having a blast!

With Grandma and Grandpa.

Just too darn cute not to post.

One of the cutest pictures ever! Loving his noodles.

The family at the US Open. Another type of ball for the little man to love.

A sleepy little man after a long day at the US Open.
Mommy just LOVED this cuddle time!

Happy Birthday Grammie!

A 60th Birthday Celebration for Mom.

Blake thinks that everything tastes better when it is dipped in ketchup.
Here he is eating lunch in Vero at the pool dipping cracker-type bread!

At the New York Mets baseball game. Ever since the ball game,
Blake has been obsessed with baseballs and bats.

Following in Grandpa's footsteps-loving tractors.

"Pop" Laughter

Blake was playing in his crib this morning with all of his balls (like we do a thousand times a day) and he started standing on one. I told him, "careful, we don't want it to pop" and hearing the word "pop" made him laugh so much. Enjoy "pop" laughter!

This Morning

I couldn't resist sharing this. This morning when we first got up and went into the kitchen to get Blake's milk, there was a peach on the counter and he pointed right to it and blurted out "peach" for the very first time! It was so exciting to hear him come out with something on his own like that. He has continually called anything that somewhat resembled this shape an apple, so this was huge!

Then if that wasn't cute enough, as I was preparing breakfast, he opened the cabinets with the pots and pans and sat there saying "hot" over and over again, while blowing on them to cool them off!

It's the simple things in life that can really make us smile!!!

Happiness Is...

...being completely surrounded by balls!

Non-Stop Traveling

Over the last two weekends, we visited the Catskill Mountains and Boston.

In the Catskills we had a very fun and relaxing time with Aunt Amanda and Tony. Daryl and Tony met for the first time and hit it off. Tony's sister and boyfriend also came. The boys stayed up all hours of the night having a grand ole time!

Future Quarterback for the Washington Redskins!

In Boston, we visited Aunt Amanda and Tony again, and Mom and Lou also came up. We had a fun family weekend and enjoyed Amanda and Tony's beautifully redecorated house along with phenomenal weather the whole time!

Chit Chat

Blake said "bubbles" today for the first time while we were playing at the park with some friends. He also has another word that he likes to say, "sit." But if you use your imagination a little, you can guess what else this word may sound like coming out of his mouth!!! And of course, "no" is becoming very popular. He says it quite a bit, but isn't really sure what he means by it...yet!
